Robert L. Grossman is the Frederick H. Rawson Professor and the Jim and Karen Frank Director of the Center for Data Intensive Science (CDIS) at the University of Chicago. At the University of Chicago, he is the Chief Research Informatics Officer (CRIO) of the Biological Sciences Division, a Professor of Medicine and Computer Science, and a Senior Fellow in the Computation Institute and in the Institute for Genomics and Systems Biology (IGSB). He is also the Director of the not-for-profit Open Commons Consortium that develops and operates data commons and data clouds to support research in science, medicine, health care, and the environment. He is the Chief Data Scientist and Founder of Open Data Group. He is also a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the AAAS.
