Dr. Martin Storksdieck

Director, STEM Research Center and Professor, College of Education and School of Public Policy

Martin Storksdieck is the director of Oregon State University’s STEM Research Center and a professor in the College of Education and the School of Public Policy.  He works in the intersection of research, practice and policy, focused on science, technology, and environmental learning, public engagement with science, and science communication across settings and time, and for children, youth and adults. He is a former director of the National Research Council’s Board on Science Education and during that time was involved in the development of several seminal reports on STEM learning that have provided advice to policymakers, academics and practioners. He is familiar with NOAA’s broad education portfolio as NOAA’s education program underwent a full review by a special committee of BOSE while Dr. Storksdieck was its director. Dr. Storksdiek holds an M.S. in biology from the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany; an M.P.A. from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government; and a Ph.D. in education from Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany.
